Jack's Canyon

Merry Christmas from Flagstaff!

We went to Jack's Canyon yesterday, in Northern Arizona. We enjoyed the awesome scenery and limestone/sandstone mixed sport climbing. The weather was really too cold to hang out for very long, so we decided to come into town to spend Christmas eve. The holiday splurge included a room in a hotel with pool and hot tub (!!!) and an Outback steakhouse in walking distance - which was completely packed. Being 'on the road' makes me appreciate, for the first time really, those chain restaurants that are homey and familiar. It's funny what a bit of traveling will do! There's nothing like a six-hour drive to make you love the corner Starbucks with free wi-fi.

Here are a few pictures from Jack's Canyon. We both liked the setting and climbing here and hope to come back in the future. The camping is free and I assume it would be a blast to stay here during the late summer or fall. If the weather holds (today is pretty snowy in Flagstaff) we're hoping to explore another certain canyon nearby either today or tomorrow...wish us good weather for the Grand Canyon!
