Hi again! After a full day of doing nearly nothing but sleeping, we're feeling better and ready to actually venture outside Jeff and Val's apartment tomorrow :) Our journey back to the states was LONG and draining, with a 9 hour layover in the Beijing airport, where outside temperatures were just above freezing, and the long glass terminals were not so cozy. We kept going back to the automatic hot-water dispenser and filling our plastic water bottles to hold to keep warm! Definitely a shock to the system. Our flight was totally uneventful until the end, when I got really sick with 4 hours left to go, and spent the last few hours huddling up in the back of the plane. So weird! I have never been sick on a plane before...not the ideal place. Jeff met us at the airport and we came straight to the apartment and into our down sleeping bags. Since then we've been sleeping like we've never slept before. Tomorrow we are going to try to get up at a normal time, we'll see. Anyway, we made it back and it's stormy in San Francisco! It's been incredibly fun to talk with Jeff and Val and compare notes on our trips, since we went to some of the same places and encountered many of the same customs and funny scenarios. We'll be here for one more day, then Monday morning we're heading out of town early and driving all the way to Yachats to visit my Grandma and Grandpa. We'll be in Yachats for two days, then heading through Eugene to Smith Rock for the last few days of Spring Break. Finally, we're coming back to Eugene on the 27th, and school starts for me on the 28th.
Here are some pictures of the end of our trip, and time spent in-transit to the states...
