Hi! It’s been a few days since the last post, time is starting to fly by and we have just about exactly two weeks left of the trip. Looking at our itinerary we realized our flight back is on the 18th, not the 16th as we had thought for some reason. It’s funny to know that so many of the vacationers around us have less than two weeks for their entire trip – two weeks is still a good amount of time! We are getting exited for things at home and are starting to feel ready to come back. As of today, we’ve been traveling for a little over 80 days including our road trip!
So, here’s a bit about the past week. Not too much has changed (we’re still in the Tonsai-Railay vicinity) but the big news is that we met up with two people who we originally met climbing in Chiang Mai, and now we are friends and climbing partners, and really hang out together all the time. To find people this great during the final stretch of the trip is the best! Being in one place helps to facilitate friendships of course, and it’s so nice for both of us to have a fellow guy/girl to hang out with! In short, it adds a whole new dimension to the end of our trip, and it’s great. Their names are Sean and Marianne, and they are from Utah.
Another small but growing shift is the weather - it is definitely changing. Nearly every night it rains now, and not just a little shower. It gets humid and then a massive dark cloud rolls over and pretty soon its thunder and lightning like I have never seen before, and its incredibly loud. The first night it happened we were eating dinner with Sean and Marianne on Railay beach and the restaurant whipped down these thick plastic sheets to shield the customers from the rain. It was really funny and exciting, and its starting to happen every evening now. At this point it doesn’t affect the climbing too much, because the heat during the daytime dries them out, but we think if it starts raining during the day then some walls will stay a bit wet.

Now for pictures. Here are some from a hike down to a hidden lagoon that we did a few days ago

Monkeys! It’s hard to see in this pic, but they have babies on their stomachs

Talk to you all soon! J/M
